Prevention of Sexual harassment with Women and Its Effects on Society

Being a woman in the world we live in today is very hard. Women suffer from horrible things such as sexual harassment, which should be prevented. According to Npr "It found that 81 percent of women and 43 percent of men had experienced some form of sexual harassment during their lifetime." As a result of sexual harassment, women tend to experience it more the men. They tend to experience it more due to men taking advantage of them when they're at their lowest. Even though sexual assault awareness is not discussed heavily in society, communities can come together to prevent its effects by providing programs.

Generally, women want to feel comfortable at a workplace that they attend to almost every day. However, women tend to experience sexual harassment more while being at work. A way that sexual harassment can be prevented is by providing programs. These programs can help bring women who have been through any type of sexual discrimination together as a community. This will help educate everybody, even outsiders who haven't experienced sexual harassment about what it is exactly. Everfi states "Unfortunately, sexual harassment at work has been an issue for decades despite a simultaneous corporate focus on providing training and implementing policies about harassment." Employees must get taught about sexual harassment for the protection of others. Women being in a protective environment should be jobs number 1 priority.

    Effects On Women

Sexual harassment has been a huge issue for women in today's society. Men all around the world tend to take advantage of women whenever they get the chance to. Hrlibrary states "Women are much more likely to be victims of sexual harassment precisely because they more often than men lack power, are in more vulnerable and insecure positions, lack self confidence, or have been socialized to suffer in silence." Women should be treated equally towards men even when they're lacking self-confidence. Women should also want to feel comfortable to talk about their experience, instead of suffering in silence. There should be conversations going on all around the world about sexual harassment and the effects it has on society. People should want to be educated so that it can be prevented in the future. How would you feel if you were put in a place to ever go through sexual harassment?

It's no secret that sexual harassment isn't an issue that is pressed in today's society, and more likely than not disregarded. People believe that when women are sexually harassed, they wanted to engage in some way. It's not fair to accuse women of engaging in such a thing, especially if they're hurt by it. We can all agree that sexual harassment isn't something that someone should consider as a joke. By not educating the world on how serious something can be, the world may never learn the importance of sexual harassment with women.

     Going Forward

Overall, sexual harassment has many effects on women and on society today. There are hundreds of ways to prevent it and hundreds of ways to let it be known that it is something serious. Help women feel comfortable enough to share what they have been through. As a woman employee, college student, or any woman for that matter bring awareness and show the world. You're not alone. If you or someone you know have been through any sexual discrimination, let the people around you know. SPEAK UP!
